Let’s Welcome Our New ILS Engineer, Callum Berryman

Minimalist welcome sign reading “Welcome aboard Callum” against a cool-toned industrial background with transport and engineering imagery.

Quorum is pleased to welcome Callum Berryman to the team as an ILS Engineer, bringing recent Royal Navy submarine engineering experience into Support Engineering and Through Life Support delivery.

Callum Berryman

What excites me most is being able to take the experience I have built in the Navy and apply it in a different environment.

The discipline I have built there is something I will carry with me forever, and I am looking forward to using that in a more varied setting.

I am keen to get stuck into different projects and challenges, keep developing my skills, and use that experience to add value to Quorum”

Callum joins Quorum after serving as a Lead Engineering Technician in the Royal Navy, working across complex submarine systems including hydraulics, air, cooling water and auxiliary mechanical equipment. His role covered Maintenance Planning, testing, Defect Rectification and helping ensure systems were ready when needed.

He originally planned to become an electrical engineer, but realised he preferred hands-on mechanical work. After joining the Royal Navy as a Marine Engineer, he expected to serve in the surface fleet. That changed during training when he was encouraged to visit a submarine. Seeing the complexity of the environment and the challenge of operating in it made the decision clear, and he chose to specialise in submarine engineering.

That experience shaped a practical approach to engineering support. Callum sees reliability as his core strength. He focuses on getting the job done safely, correctly and on time, even under pressure. In submarine operations, that meant thinking quickly, solving problems and keeping systems working while maintaining strict standards.

While supporting testing and commissioning on Astute Class submarines, Callum worked alongside build teams to make sure systems were ready for operation and could be supported through life. The experience reinforced the importance of precision, clear procedures and thinking ahead about how equipment will be maintained.

Callum is now looking forward to applying his Royal Navy experience at Quorum. He is keen to work across different programmes, continue developing his Support Engineering skills and bring practical front-line insight into Support Planning, Reliability and long-term equipment support.

We are pleased to welcome Callum to the team and look forward to the experience he brings to Quorum and our clients.
